On 31st January 2007, the Global Association of Women Theologians was founded with a vision to acknowledge, empower and encourage women theologians, the reality of being called by God, created in His image, and empowered with Holy Spirit to be the ambassadors for Christ and make Jesus known in this world by being a catalyst of peace, justice, and reconciliation.

GAWT welcomes all theological women from all recognized Universities and Seminaries empowers them to be active participants, equip themselves from time to time, and be responsible church workers in the life and mission of the church and be always ready as useful instruments for the Master's use. GAWT is an integral part of the Church and through its Diaconal work and theological background strives to make the presence and image of Jesus visible within the society and this World filled with many challenges. The role of women right from the first century had been very prominent in the life and mission, of the church. GAWT is a National, ecumenical and autonomous organization whose wings are spread all around the Globe wherein the theological women from other countries can become associate members of GAWT.
GAWT claims itself to be a partner and coworker in God’s vineyard and partners with God in continuing work of positive transformation to make the world a better place to live in. GAWT takes cognizance of the ever-changing world cultures, traditions, attitudes, perspectives, social media and groupings in the matrix of a pluralistic society.

GAWT makes its presence felt in attaining justice in the midst of oppression, humiliation. Abuse, violence, and exploitation especially concerning women, children, and the vulnerable communities.GAWT is well aware of its role in such situations and takes a step further in combating the issues and bringing out solutions.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Mission
Is to equip, educate & empower women theologians to make theology viable in the life & mission of the church. We do this by enabling the theological women to use their potential to the fullest possible in order to meet the challenges prevailing in the world today, through evangelism, diaconal work and act as catalysts of peace, justice & reconciliation.

Our Vision
GAWT hopes for the abundant life to everyone as God promised in the Bible. In the midst of trials, struggles and pain GAWT desires and works to bring the hope for the hopeless through its actions and faith at various levels. Our Vision is to identify the potential leaders and train them to be master trainers and encourage second-line leadership so that they can actively participate in the life and mission of the church.GAWT prepares the annual program which will be followed all over India and also abroad where our associated members reside. GAWT emphasizes the theological virtues that are associated with and in Christian Theology, philosophy and salvation through the grace of God. A member of GAWT is identified through the virtues such as faith Hope and Love mentioned in I Corinthians 13 and these are infused into our souls by God alone and only when one knows Jesus personally, it is possible to have these virtues
